Dr. Bloss began practicing pediatric surgery in Houston in 1981. Since that time, he has become one of the most prominent pediatric surgeons in the country. He developed a national reputation as a leader and is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association Education Committee. Locally, he is active in the Houston medical societies. He is past president of the Houston Gastroenterologic Society and past vice president of the Houston Pediatric Society. He is also past president of the Medical Staff at Texas Children's Hospital.
Robert K. Minkes, M.D.
Dr. Minkes recently moved from New Orleans where he was the Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Louisiana State University and Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Prior to New Orleans, Dr. Minkes was on faculty of Washington University and St. Louis Children's Hospital where he had completed his pediatric surgery fellowship and general surgery residency. Dr. Minkes received his MD and his PhD from Tulane University. Dr. Minkes is board-certified in general and pediatric surgery and has authored and coauthored many articles and book chapter on a variety of pediatric surgical topics.
As a specialist in pediatric surgery, Dr. Minkes treats all disorders of infancy and childhood. He has a special interest and training in minimally invasive surgical techniques including laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and pectus excavatum repair. Dr. Minkes has additional interest in the treatment of childhood cancer, endocrine problems and anorectal malformations. Dr. Minkes has hospital privileges at all hospitals served by Houston Pediatric Surgeons.

A native Texan, Robert
Bloss received his medical degree from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his general
surgery training in Dallas and in Houston. His pediatric surgery residency was
completed at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Bloss is board
certified in Pediatric Surgery, as well as General Surgery. He is also
re-certified in Pediatric Surgery.
